Calvin Klein To Release CK Free Blue

CK Free BlueReleased in 2009, the original CK Free was a woody aromatic centered around suede leather, patchouli and tobacco leaf and proved to be quite popular, even gaining a nomination in the 2010 FiFi Awards. With fresh green notes, spearmint and ozone, CK Free Blue aims to be a fresh, clean and masculine take on the original.

“ckfree blue embodies masculine freshness with its clean and airy quality – perfect for the cool, modern man. a bright, atmospheric feeling emerges from the scent, as its energetic ozone heart is balanced against a backdrop of warm, pure sensuality.”

Other notes include lavender, mandarin, cardamom, nutmeg, amber, leather and musk. Expect to see this latest release in stores this November, available as a 50ml and 100ml eau de toilette.

Superdry Releases Fragrance Collection

Superdry FragrancesThe Superdry brand has really taken the world by storm with its trendy fusion of Americana and pseudo-Japanese text. Having spread globally and with an annual group turnover close to £140 million, this is a real British success story. Not bad when you consider that the Superdry brand grew from just one store which opened in Covent Garden in 2004.

As you would expect from most successful brands they expanded from clothing into things like bags, watches, sunglasses, jewellery and other accessories so it was only a matter of time before they moved into the lucrative fragrance market.

September sees the launch of a trio of men’s fragrances, the first in a range of men’s and women’s fragrance to be released throughout 2011 and into 2012 when we should see the release of the women’s scents. Here’s what’s been launched so far:

Dry by Superdry
The first fragrance is described as rich, aromatic and woody. The juice combines top notes of bergamot, red fruits, lemon, grapefruit and cooling eucalyptus. The heart blends cardamom, pink pepper and rose; the base woods, musks and mosses. Dry by Superdry features an antique brass shoulder strap and dark suede wrap.

Double Dry by Superdry
The fragrance opens on notes of bergamot, mandarin and frozen grapefruit, building to a heart of juniper, rosemary and subtle Sichuan pepper. Other key ingredients include rosewood, musk, incense and oak moss. The packaging is “rust distressed” with a dark leather strap.

Dry Oil by Superdry
The third fragrance is composed around a fougere accord, complemented by notes of vanilla. Lavender, iris, lemon, petitgrain, cypress, cardamom, neroli, rose and patchouli also feature. The fragrance sports Blackhawk plaid outer packaging, synonymous with Superdry’s classic look.

These fragrances are available as 100ml eau de toilettes at Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Selfridges, House of Fraser and Superdry stores and should retail at around £55.

Burberry Body – Grab Your Free Sample

Burberry BodyThere has certainly been no shortage of new perfume releases this year. But finding corresponding free sample promotions has been as difficult as finding the proverbial hen’s teeth. This means that if you want to sample something new you usually have to drag yourself off to your local perfume shop or Boots and beg the sales staff to part with their sample stash (usually reluctantly). Burberry however, is doing things a little differently with the release of their latest women’s fragrance, Burberry Body.

Instead of tucking away a ‘free sample’ link on their site as most brands do, Burberry are spreading the word and inviting everyone to join them on Facebook and register for a free sample here. There’s even a personal invite from Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, Christopher Bailey, encouraging visitors to sample the fragrance before its official launch on September the 1st.

Burberry Body will be launched as a 35ml, 60ml and 85ml eau de parfum as well as a longer lasting eau de parfum intense version in 60ml and 85ml sizes, and will features notes of freesia, green absinthe, peach, rose, iris, sandalwood, musk, amber and vanilla.

Keep up to date with this and other free sample promotions via our free perfume samples page.

Anyone Up For A Million Dollar Bottle Of Perfume?

DKNY Golden DeliciousBack in 2009 we blogged about a limited edition release of Paco Rabanne’s 1 Million for men which cost a mere £35 000. Well if you thought that was a bit over the top, how about the latest limited edition collectors bottle of Golden Delicious from DKNY. This will set you back a cool $1 million.

Fans of DKNY will be familiar with the brand’s apple inspired Be Delicious fragrances, Golden Delicious being the latest addition to the series, but what sets this particular limited edition apart is its 14-karat gold flacon adorned with 2900 precious stones from around the world.

And just in case you have a spare one million lying around and can’t wait to rush out and buy yourself a bottle, I’m afraid you’ll have to be patient. This is a one of a kind creation that will be exhibited around the world before a sucker (sorry, buyer) agrees to part with the necessary cash. It’s not all decadence and self-indulgence though – the asking price will be donated to Action Against Hunger so at least one man or woman’s folly will hopefully be Africa’s gain.

Jean Paul Gaultier Silver My Skin

JPG Silver My SkinIf you’re one of those perfume lovers who buys perfumes not just for the smell but also for the bottles themselves, you may be interested in two new limited editions from Jean Paul Gaultier, Classique Silver My Skin and Le Male Silver My Skin.

Unlike previous flankers, Classique X and Le Male Terrible, don’t expect anything different from these latest editions other than packaging. Classique Silver My Skin contains the same orange, fruits, anise, ginger and ambery vanilla notes of the original Classique Eau de Toilette while Le Male Silver My Skin has the same fresh mint, vanilla and spice character of the original Le Male.

Classique Silver My Skin Limited Edition will be available as a 100ml Eau de Toilette while the Le Male Silver My Skin Limited Edition comes as a 125ml Eau de Toilette.

Versace Introduces Yellow Diamond

Versace Yellow DiamondVersace first introduced us to it’s Crystal series in 2004 with the release of Crystal Noir, a dark and mysterious oriental floral dominated by gardenia. This was followed in 2006 by Bright Crystal, a much lighter and fruitier scent. This year sees the release of the latest addition to the series in the form of Yellow Diamond.

While Yellow Diamond doesn’t share the same nomenclature as it’s earlier incarnations, it shares the same distinctive flacon, this time in yellow, which helps to emphasise the freshness of the juice which opens with lemon, bergamot, neroli and pear. This is followed by orange blossom, mimosa, water lily and freesia on an amber, musk and guaiac wood base.

Fronted by Australian fashion model, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Versace Yellow Diamond will be available as a 50ml and 90ml eau de toilette together with a body lotion and deodorant spray.

Some Youthful Fragrance Releases

L'Homme Libre and Forbidden EuphoriaBack in April we mentioned the forthcoming launch of Diesel Fuel for Life Denim Collection, a new take on the original, aimed at a more youthful market. Well it seems young is still the hot ticket for fragrance designers as we hear news of two new youthfully inspired fragrances from Yves Saint Laurent and Calvin Klein.

First up it’s Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme Libre, the third installment in the range which started in 2006 with L’Homme and was followed in 2009 by La Nuit De L’Homme. This latest version was created to be “fresh and youthful, but masculine at the same time” and will contain notes of bergamot, pink pepper and patchouli.

Next up is new take take on an old classic, the ever popular Calvin Klein Euphoria for women. We’ve already had a few variations of this fragrance over the years, Euphoria Blossom and Euphoria Spring Temptation but this latest release, Forbidden Euphoria, is supposedly, sexier and easier to wear than the original, and is aimed at women aged 17 to 20 (or those of an older persuasion who would like to feel young again).

This fruity oriental scent will contain notes of mandarin, peach blossom, raspberry, pink peony, tiger orchid, jasmine, cashmere woods, patchouli and musk and will be available as a 30ml, 50ml and 100ml eau de parfum from September.

Soon We Can All Own A Mercedes… Fragrance That Is

MercedesFerrari have done it and Jaguar have done it, so it was only a matter of time before Mercedes got in on the act. That’s right, Mercedes-Benz has announced a partnership with relatively unknown French perfume manufacturer INCC Group to produce a fragrance line for this premium brand.

Now you can own the key chain, the cap and the t-shirt as you sit in your Vauxhall Astra convertible pretending it was an SLK, enjoying the fragrance of leather and burning piles of cash – or so I imagine. Envy is a terrible thing.

Davidoff To Release Champion Energy

Davidoff Champion EnergyFans of Davidoff’s 2010 release, Champion, with it’s unusual dumbbell-shaped bottle, may be interested to hear that a new version, Champion Energy, is scheduled for release this summer. As the name implies, this is meant to be a more energetic version of the original with a fresh grapefruit and bergamot opening, combined with refreshing spices, cedar and oak moss.

Last year’s release was fronted by hunky Spanish male model Aitor Mateo and it seems that this year it’s the turn of model Tyler Wood to show his abs and flex his biceps for Davidoff.

Davidoff Champion Energy will be available as a 30ml, 50ml and 90ml eau de toilette.
