Paula Abdul Wants To Give Us Sexy Thoughts

Paula AbdulYet another celebrity perfume to hit the market as Paula Abdul gets ready to launch her first fragrance, Sexy Thoughts. And in case you were wondering about the name, she describes Sexy Thoughts as “something that happens when people smell me.” Steady on girl!

Describing her new fragrance, Paula went on to say “There are times when I’m shy, there are times when I’m playful. There’s times when I’m very powerful. It totally captures the spirit of who I am.” I have to say, that doesn’t exactly make me want to rush out and buy it. I guess, as with most celebrity perfumes, the proof is in the smelling.

Surprisingly there’s been no official mention of a Simon Cowell fragrance although Paula did jokingly say that she was considering creating Ode to Simonella which would smell of cat pee, horse poop and fart. Say no more.

Avril Lavigne Gets Ready To Launch Black Star Perfume

Avril LavigneAvril Lavigne seems to be having fun as she gets ready to launch her first fragrance, Black Star, which she describes as being ‘me in a bottle’. And it looks like she had a say in more that just what’s in the bottle. According to Avril, “The inspiration [for the mirrored squares on the carton] came from my love of studded belts and studded bracelets.”

Said to be aimed at her teenage fan-base (no surprises there), Black Star includes notes of pink hibiscus, black plum and dark chocolate. I suspect that it will be a sweet floral number – hopefully not too sweet. The fragrance will be available in Europe from July as an EDP in 15ml, 30ml, 50ml and 100ml sizes, complemented by a body lotion, deodorant and shower gel.

Christian Dior Releases A New J’adore In Time For Spring

J'adoreComing next month from Christian Dior is a new version of the popular J’Adore fragrance, this time called J’adore L’eau Cologne Florale. Although still a floral like its predecessor (which incidentally is still going strong after ten years) this latest release is magnolia-focused giving it more of a fresh citrus zing, perfect for Spring.

As before, the new fragrance is being promoted by the gloriously well tanned Charlize Theron who it seems, based on the image on the right, still hasn’t managed to put her clothes on since the last J’adore ad campaign.

Christian Dior J’Adore L’Eau Cologne Florale will be available in 75 and 125 ml sizes.

Smell Me Up Scotty

Hoping to cash in the release of the next Star Trek movie in May, US company Genki Wear is planning on releasing not one but three Star Trek-themed fragrances, two for men and one for women. I’m no Trekkie fan, but even if I was, would I really be tempted to buy “Pon Farr”, a fragrance supposedly inspired by a Vulcan mating ritual that only occurs every seven years?

For men there’s Tiberius, based on the character of Captain James T (for Tiberius) Kirk with the tagline “Boldly Go” (I have a fairly good idea where that can go), together with Red Shirt, with the rather Bond-like tagline of “Because tomorrow may never come”.
